Career in iGaming Industry

McDonnell set up KM IGAMING in 2011 following a period of sustained growth, constant change and unprecedented opportunity in the booming global online betting and gaming sector. With over 16 years experience in the online gambling business, he a holds a Personal Management License issued by the UK Gambling Commission.


Managing Director



After 4 successful years, McDonnell left the Tote to become Managing Director for Tyche Consulting Ltd, helping clients’ gaming brands enter the UK market. The focus was Operational set up and Product supplier negotiation and selection, while ensuring the brand was set up to leverage the licensing, sponsorship and credibility benefits a foothold in the UK market gave it.

While at Tyche, McDonnell also assumed a number of other responsibilities throughout his 4 year tenure including:

  • Responsibility for international Group Business Development
  • P&L accountability for the Global Sportsbook performance
  • Responsibility for running a Client business, in Manila
  • The launch of a casino focused business
  • Key stakeholder in the launch of clients’ mobile sportsbook product
  • Third party product selections & negotiation, particularly for sportsbook.

McDonnell is now working with clients to leverage his experience, knowledge and international network of contacts to help deliver success.

In 2002, McDonnell then went to the UK Tote to launch and head up the newly established online business – the fastest growing channel within 6 months. After a couple of years there, he also assumed responsibility for Tote Direct – the B2B & international arm of the Tote – focussing on driving revenues through retail and online international partners. McDonnell was also responsible for overall Business Development for the group.

Following that, he spent a successful period with William Hill managing their international affiliate programme for Sports, Casino and Poker, including leading the project to bring the programme in house.

Starting his career in the sports content world in 1999, McDonnell was responsible for driving users of the biggest online sports content site in the UK – – to, a joint venture betting business between the Press Association & the UK Tote.
